Magnolia survived Mindanao Cargo Forwarders

Magnolia Fresh chicken masters survived a hardfighting Mindanao Cargo Forwarders (MCF) squad in the first game of the knockout quarterfinal pairing at Montana Sky Gym, 74-69. MCF gave a good fight only to lose in the end game. Magnolia trailed most part of the game. First quarter ended with MCF on top by 2 points 18-16. Magnolia was able to bounced back in the second quarter, 37-33. But at the end of the third quarter, MCF reversed the trend and basketball fanatics saw the lead of MCF ballooned to 6 points. Magnolia played catch-up in the fourth quarter and have only tasted the lead below the last 2-minute mark as their vaunted defense hold up. After Magnolia took its lead, MCF failed to execute their offense properly.

Magnolia will have a face-off with their elimination round tormentor, Western Feedmill Grinders (84-68) in what will be a repeat of the last conference final four pairing when Magnolia upset the second seed Grinders. However, this time the Grinders will have a twice-to-beat advantage. Gametime will be at 3:30pm Sunday, November 15, 2009. See you there!
